Former secretary of state Colin Powell's endorsement provides a new boost for Obama, who has made significant progress with voters as a leader in international affairs. But Obama also continues to be lifted by more fundamental advantages, including a 2 to 1 advantage on "helping the middle-class."
With the AP poll discredited by its doubling-down on evangelicals it appears to be an 8-10 point Obama advantage nationwide, with even Ohio beginning to look like a probable Obama win.
Powell's endorsement cannot be underestimated for independent voters who were looking for some voice of independent sanity to give an opinion on the race. I think that Powell nailed that for a lot of voters.
